Looks: Very feminine-looking structure, to the point that he is sometimes mistaken for a female. His coat is the color of red velvet, and his bubblegum pink mane is short and combed (think comet tail). His cutie mark is a diamond heart that bares the same color as his mane. Ruby is usually found wearing light makeup as well, such as eyeliner, eyeshadow, and lipstick. Ruby is an earth pony.

Personality: Soft and submissive, although he can be quite flirty. He has never been known for being very outspoken though, as he doesn't feel comfortable taking the lead or making decisions.

Family: Ruby has a father, Red Velvet, a baker with a small shop opened in Canterlot, and a mother, Sapphire, a fashion designer living in Manehattan. Ruby's parents are actually divorced, and he is an only child. In his adult life, Ruby keeps a strong connection to his father, who was much more open to the idea of Ruby being gay. Ruby doesn't talk much to his mother because she was not able to "forgive" Ruby for being the way he is.

Other: Ruby'd cutie mark comes from his love of making things "beautiful," which branches out from makeup to fashion. It's the reason he likes wearing makeup. Because of his feminine physique, Ruby has even been known to wear dresses, although he still considers himself male.
