Because of the nature of this forum, the actual role playing threads are invisible for non-members, along with a selected few other threads as well. That's the reason why the forum looks empty-ish. But worry not if you're thinking of joining and afraid of getting on a ghost ship: we do have activity here. (

Yes, you may play as a canon character. Be it canonically male one like Big McIntosh or a gender bendered one like Dusk Shine.
No, you don't need to claim the character anywhere; as in it doesn't matter if someone else already plays him, you can just play him in some other threads.
Yes, you may play as your OC. Even an alicorn one.
No, you don't need to play with someone who uses an alicorn OC if that makes you uncomfortable. Just play with someone else.
